Environment Artist - Modeling and Texturing

Animated Short - Group Project
An animated short completed as a part of the Texas A&M Visualization programs vertical studio courses. I worked on this during the summer 2022 over a 10 week period. We were prompted to create a commercial in Unreal Engine.
Modeling
Below is a collection of each of the assets that I modeled and UV unwrapped. I modeled each asset in Maya and exported to Unreal. Because of the lack of smooth mesh previewing for rendering in engine, carefully placed bevels were added to these meshes in addition to softened normals to prevent faceted edges on the more organic shapes.

Texturing
Below is a collection of each of the assets that I surfaced. I mesh baked and textured each asset in Substance Painter and exported to Unreal via the Unreal Engine 4 Packed setting. Unfortunately, my teammates and I did not match the Substance color space to our Unreal one during our texturing phase. This resulted in materials that were not quite 1-1 between the software. However, I made the necessary tweaks to the texture maps and materials in engine and the images below are rendered in engine, in order to provide an accurate close up of all of them.

Layout & Project Pitch
"The camera does two to three slow dolly shots of the various trinkets and baubles. During this time a chant of some sort is being spoken by an old woman. It cuts to a wide view of the hut revealing a cauldron of bubbling liquid. You see a hooded figure with gnarled warty hands drop something into the cauldron as her chanting continues. the scene cuts to a top down view. You just see the witches feet sticking out from under a table and a bottle rolls out. The bottle stops rolling when the logo faces the camera. Cackling laughter ends the commercial and fades out as the screen cuts to black." - Isabella Bradberry

Pre-Viz
As a team we decided to do a vodka commercial involving a witch in a hut. During the pre-viz phase, I did a photo bash draw over in order to get an idea of what kind of props and models we would be working with.
